The Apostolic Gospel Church was founded in April 1972 by our Pastor John M. Stephenson and family. The first services were held in a tent at the pasors home on State Road 44 about 3 miles east of our new facility. Property at 1260 Hamilton Avenue was purchased in the summer of 1972. Construction on the original sanctuary and class rooms was finished in 1974. As the church grew we needed more room in the best of ways. Construction began and in 1989 we marched into our new sanctuary. 6 years later were in need of more space. We were full to capacity and needed additional classrooms for the booming Sunday School Department. The need was net in 1995 when the Lord blessed and we were given the opportunity to purchase 10+ actes located 1 mile east of I-65 on State Road 44. With the new property purchased and the new building under construction, the church at 1260 Hamilton Avenue was up for sale and in a few short months the church was sold in 2002. With the new building under construction and our property sold we needed a place to worship. The Pastor and Church Family at Grace Methodist Church, located at 1300 East Adams Street, opened their doors to us and have allowed us to rent their facilities. With the construction of our new facility about complete, we were looking forward to moving into our new building.
In September 2007 we moved into our new building.
The Apostolic Gospel Church is so Blessed to have a Pastor with a vision and a desire to see the work of God go Forth. "Where there is no vision, the people perish" Proverbs 29:18.
